• A Terrapin’s distinctive spirit •
[1½ MIN READ]
T’Adam has been appreciable from the start of his time with the Growlers crew first for making the effort as a University of Maryland (College Park) undergraduate student to join us for our weekly group runs. He started during the summer break of his junior year. I called him out on the Cerebrun that week back in 2022 and he’s managed to get featured more than once over the years.
His farewell picture that summer (with his return to campus), initiated the use of Paint for attendance pictures.
One simple reality is that he kept returning. We continued to see him during succeeding visits to his family at home in Willow Grove. That’s when we found out he graduated with my son from Abington School District and they both knew each other. Their birthdays are 2 days apart.
Then when he graduated, he moved back and began running with us regularly.
Speaking of birthdays, we got to celebrate his last one when his mother made a special trip to our weekly overrun with a celebratory cake: Family Matters. If appreciation by association is legitimate, Adam’s mother made a particular impression together with him during one pre-Thanksgiving run: not to be unseen!
His trail name made him another focal point (given that he joined a previous Adam, now J’Adam, as a regular).

T’Adam has been a runner for a while, a fact that we learned during his college days (We do like new runners’ running stories.).
What we learned most recently about his competitive spirit is that it extends to Rubik’s cubes. Now we know something about cubic competitions and competitive events. So, while some of us invest ourselves in running races (well, him, too), he invests his energy training for and competing cubically. That brings me to his most recent competition when he pulled out 3rd place in the 4×4! (Correct, that’s not the other 4×400.)
Adam, it’s a distinct honor and pleasure to have you as a member of the crew!
