BMR. Family.

• A tale of two members •

[1 MIN READ]

After a few years of (roughly) quarterly visits to Black Men Run Philadelphia, the feelings have become warm. As we converged last week, one of that crew’s members commented about expecting to see the tall guy (Jim). There he was, just out of his line of vision. For Jim’s part, he expended a good bit of energy to be there, first by taking Regional Rail down to his work in Center City then running from his office to Lloyd Hall where BMR runs every Wednesday. Terp Adam and I drove down to join, thus ensuring he had a way back to his car at Jenkintown Station. BMR loves to celebrate family. We love to join them, contributing our presence as members.

A different one of those particular BMR runners got attention for his Philly Marathon training efforts. I had gotten to know Tre when he first started running with the BMR Philly crew. At the time he was training for his first 10 miler. We happened to meet at his second during 2025’s Rocky Run. It was easy to celebrate his preparation for this first marathon, given that it was nowhere in his earliest aspiration. Tre, brother, I’m as excited about your running development as a family member could be. I’ll be looking for you at this year’s race.
