Nor’easter (#230: ZY Weekly Newsletter 9/26/26)

• A soggy Saturday •

[1 MIN READ]

The past Saturday’s news for runners featured the nor’easter that threatened weekend plans, including workouts. Check out the SRC Run Report for what happened at the fence while the Bridge to Bridge Relay Run took place (ShawmontRunningClub.com). (SRC runners’ efforts are also in this newsletter’s Congrats-a-mundo to All feature.)

It threatened the efforts of 5 other SRC-ers doing a different run that same day: The ORC Relay (iCandybyWangC.com and elsewhere unless otherwise stated). When Rob’s phone started chiming Saturday morning, he feared the worst. For naught. Even the most rain-daunted showed up at Jenkintown Running Company to start. Two runners completed the full 22 miles. Two finished half and left to dry off. Two more did a variation of the first ¾ and the final ¾.

Truth be told, the beginning wasn’t that bad, but the 2 halfers left at the right time. The 3 completing the run at Ridley Running Company took the worst of the weather, including when one young driver dowsed them while plowing through underpass puddle water. Rob made it clear in no uncertain terms the collective displeasure at their insensitivity.

Oddly, the nor’easter itself reflected a peculiar seasonal development for 2026 — no named hurricanes so far — with the potential for breaking a 121-year-old record. Read more about that in Elsewhere in the News (ShawmontRunningClub.com).
