When Grace and Phil arrived to run with us for the first time, their presence posed problems immediately.
Not that they would be confused on sight with any other club runner, but the name overlap is getting ridiculous. Phil’s name was so much less of a problem that I didn’t even register the redundancy with another store Phil. We haven’t seen him in a while, what with college and all, but JRC Phil worked for the store as an associate. Still, another Phil is confusing.
So, enter the trailtag. The name we use when we’re “trailing” each other, of course.

My working tag for newcomer Phil is Phlix. Because his email ID is Philx, of course. And because Phlix flows off the tongue better. Still, he has to okay it, so feel free to disregard my suggestion until that happens.
As for Grace, we literally have 2 other Graces actively running with us. The other 2 met just a couple of weeks ago after otherwise missing each other repeatedly. Grace L became Gracelly from the start. Grace R became Gracier. And newcomer Grace became PT Grace. Because of her profession, of course. And because it was really hard to come up with anything mellifluous by amalagamating Grace and W.
Why not just use full names? The internet is already a dangerous place. Consider trailtags the club’s version of digital protection. The club should not be dangerous.
