It was heartwarming to welcome Taylor last week. He and Stacey are brother and sister and he represented a special development with their family of origin. They grew up in Texas and their parents have been living in Florida. They’ve all, including a middle brother, decided to move to the Jenkintown area to be closer to Stacey and her own family. That should blow you away as it did me, as families have gotten increasingly divided over extremely large areas.

My mother with her siblings lived in 4 contiguous time zones: us in upstate NY, a brother’s family in Chicago, another brother’s family in Albuquerque NM, and a sister’s family in SoCal. That struck me as really weird when I was a kid. Now I with my brothers do the same: us here in Philly, a brother’s family in Chicago, another brother’s family in Salt Lake City, and another brother’s family in SoCal. It still strikes me as weird.
Whether Taylor continues to run with us or not is irrelevant. His and Stacey’s family of origin is the kind of inspirational that makes a warm, communal group like us Growlers very happy.
