A Word on Running Conditions (#357: 2026’06’17’W)

Last week and next couple

[<1½ MIN READ]

As mentioned in the Run Report, I showed up as usual despite the assurance of rain (Facebook). I loitered with store James and Keith as we became increasingly convinced that I was the whole show. I did opine that Jim-var was a possibility, if anyone was. (By then, I already knew Jay-var was a solid no. Something about lightning and a quiet dinner with his family.) Not many minutes later, Jim did appear and we did run.

Around this part of the northeast, we’re relatively acquainted with the pattern of days so humid that the evenings revolt in fits of precipitation. That pattern seems increasingly common. Many times, though, it seems that the fits are short lived. That means that Wednesday Growler runs get threatened, but not always spoiled. For my part, I show up because sometimes other Growlers are willing to chance the risk of spoilage. Here’s a piece from last month about some runs that did and didn’t get away: What a Disaster (iCandybyWangC.com and elsewhere unless otherwise specified).

As for my condition, I am actually getting away for my annual service trip to Alaska. Some of you know about this because it’s my 10th year doing it and you’ve been around. If you wish to know more, here’s a link to a letter I wrote to potential financial supporters: 2026 Alaska Ministry Letter. If it scratches your itch and jibes with your circumstances, it would please me to have some of you as contributors.

I’ll see you next on 07’08’W, provided I’m not too jet lagged and weary after my red-eye morning return. Don’t expect any weekly messages in the mean tim.
