2026’s First Week in Review (#337: 2026’01’14’W)

Featuring mixed emotions

[<2 MIN READ]

Last week’s Growlers Group Run saw the welcome of a new runner to the club (iCandybyWangC.com). Conor ran with Terp Adam back in Abington High School days. Time will tell how his involvement with the club develops, but trying to pace his attendance in comparison to T’Adam will be a hard ask, given that the latter has been coming virtually weekly since he graduated from UMd (Where do you think the ‘Terp’ comes from?). ‘Owl’ Conor might be a trail-name option for him if he does (the mascot at TempleU, natch).

Though she didn’t run, Ironette showed up with her guy Jahn for her final overrun before returning to Florida. These time-limited club tenures are rough because we know a given Growler won’t be around for the long term. We knew she would be going back a bunch of months ago, but we’re sad for her to take her cheerful demeanor and winsome conversation as she does.

Growler alum Jackie returned for a cameo appearance via telephone to say goodbye to Lynette and report on her doings since she herself left this past summer (iCandybyWangC.com). Cheerful-demeanor-and-winsome-conversation #1 gone.

The conversation at the overrun revolved around Thaddeus getting a job after months of looking. Unfortunately, he’s moving to Delaware to take it (the job). CD&WC #3 gone.

So, the big burden is on the remnant of us to take up the slack, which won’t be easy; those 3 Growlers pulled a lot of weight. In the same way very few of us (none?) brought natural running ability to GGR, we can improve our CD&WC, too.

I may just have found a club resolution for the new year. Wish us luck, cuz the alternative is mighty boring overruns, lots of weekly calls to the alumni, or lots of pressure on newbies like Conor.

To close this week in review, GGR made a showing at its first Jenkintown Activity Fair on Saturday to promote ourselves, 3 days after last week’s run. Three attendees expressed interest. Come on, newbies, the conversational future of the club might depend upon one of you.
