Instead of “Run”

[1½ MIN READ]

It’s odd to think how many JRC GGR-ers, back in the day, were not actually denizens of Jenkintown, given the store’s name; but, you know, retailers can’t discriminate: it’s bad for business (Jenkintown Running Company online and this website). What’s odd, relatively, is how many Jenkintonians there are now. There’s A.A.Rondasay (i.e., Aaron and Candace), Adelavid (Adelaide and Train Dave), J’Adam, and Jason; not to speak of occasionals Free-Burma Pete and Lala. And those are just the ones off the top of my head. Compare that to the 20-teens when I first started running with the group and the one was Fast Dave. Period.

One aspect of the evolution is that Jenkintown runners started discovering the Growlers, a nearby club in which crewness is important (iCandybyWangC). Another interesting aspect was that people even settled in Jenkintown because of the club. This means that relationships already existed as running circumstances have changed. A.A.Rondasay’s and Adelavid’s running circumstances changed because of their family circumstances: babies can do that. Them-all living in J’town means that we’ve literally run across them while we’ve conducted our weekly runs and they’ve done daily walks (or other such tooling around).

Formally, I’m only a Jenkintonian postally and logistically: I live in Abington, but close enough to be served by the J post office. Wife and I also use the J SEPTA station a lot, so circumstances led me into town to pick up our car parked near there this week. As I walked 2 doggos, I came upon Adelaide and Candace walking 2 kiddos. It seems the relationship they’ve had through the Growlers Group Run made occasional baby doings worth doing together. And there I was with 2 dogs walking through town for us-all to encounter each other.

Thanks to Adelaide for prompting this Cerebrun’s theme and title. It was a natural. We do also have assurances that parent runners will start returning to the club as routines settle in, perhaps even with kiddos. Doggos? Only in carriages. But, I just don’t love them that much.
