• Low on drama, high on potential •

The first fellowship meeting of the semester took place on 09’04’F. The meal was home-cooked chicken tikka masala that a volunteer provided. 12 students attended. We had thought there could be double that, especially for a first gathering, but it’s just as well: There wouldn’t have been enough food. 

One table was filled with students with student leaders fulfilling the expectation to make them all feel welcome. Another table was filled with students, other student leaders, and ministry colleagues Meesh and Nancy. Each table had too many people for me to feel comfortable, especially with a third table featuring Micah, alone. I sat down with him, a 3^rd-year student who was attending for the first time. A moment later Gideon joined who was also a 3^rd year, an occasional attendee from last year. I introduced them to each other.

I got to know the 2 a little and shared about myself a little. Meesh defined and proclaimed the Gospel. We set up the rest of the semester’s plans.

Gideon and Micah are both Christian and we didn’t explore their faith further. It was not dramatic, but the semester is pregnant with expectation for God’s work; including empowering Gideon and Micah as followers of Jesus as they connect deeper with the club.
