• A few runners of the canine persuasion •

[This is a pre-scheduled post.] While the typical Growler attending JRC’s weekly Wednesday runs is bipedal, there have been a few of the quadrupedal variety (iCandybyWangC.com, Facebook). One such, 2 weeks ago (2026’04’01’W), was Nico who hails from Jay-var’s family (Facebook).
Train Dave will remember Ollie the border collie who belonged to former Growler Gio. Ollie attended a couple of runs and managed to make it into the weekly picture: 2020’05’07’W (iCandybyWangC.com and elsewhere unless otherwise stated). He has a special bond with TD that you can read about in that post.
Jay-var himself will remember gal Reg who belonged to Tania, our overlapping running bud from Elkins Park Runners (Facebook). Reg also made it into the weekly picture and post: 2022’06’08’W.
With the passage of nearly 4 years since the last visit, Nico’s presence stands out making a picture with him feel that much more appropriate. Here’s the gallery of all 3 friendly faces:
It’s ironic that all 3 have had humanesque [sic] names.
Independent of JRC’s Growlers Group Run club name, Ollie did utter a discouraging word (Read the post for details: 2020’05’07’W), but Reg and Nico were better behaved (“a discouraging word,” Wikipedia.org). That challenges the wholesale application of the Growlers nickname to the 3.
The 67% of well-behaved ones makes them comparable to the percentage of well-behaved bipedal regulars.
