I’ve been wanting to do more miles as marathon training season approaches (January for Jersey City, 04’14’U). Jason Variant and Jim Variant (both o’Variations o’J&J) decided to join me for another circuit on the Jenkintown S5K route.

As we wrapped up, Jason suggested a round at Human Robot. That turned into one at Drake Tavern instead because of loud music and sensitive ears.
Suitably lubricated as we then wrapped that up, I dared to ask the 2 if they’d had any chance to talk about the Israel-Hamas war with anyone. Both admitted they had not. Suitable lubrication can actually be quite unsuitable for some gatherings, but that was not the case here. My take away is that we all agreed people cannot be victimized by political decisions: on either side of a conversation. We came up with no answers, otherwise, which is just as well because no one in places of influence is asking us.
This was the exchange as we wrapped up: “I’ve always wanted to ask what people thought but have been afraid to ask.” “Hmm. Me less. Maybe this was okay because we know each other.” “Family members know each other…” “Hmm. …And bad things happen. Good point.”
There have been times with JRC’s GGR when political conversations would have been more animated with less end benefit. GGR is a kinder, gentler place these days. And I think we’re all suitably blessed. May bad things continue to be non-issues in GGR. As far as running: Thanks J&J for the company on that extra circuit. Good things for the 3 of us.
