[1½ MIN READ]
A variation of Jason and Jim (in particular the latter) showed up to run last week and cheerfully observed that he got credit for attending a previous run that he didn’t actually attend: 2023’02’01’W. The detail I noticed during that run was that when we reached the end (Leedom St. @ West Ave.), there was at least one more runner there than when we started: Aaron and Someone. I remembered who they were for about 3 minutes.
When it was time to publish the run message the following week with the picture, I texted Adelaide who probably also only remembered who Someone was for about 3 minutes. I thought it was Jim and she concurred; so that’s who got added to the photo.
As we headed around the Sunset 5K route last week, it occurred to me that I could offset the attendance tally for him-Jim by x-ing him off this week’s picture. It doesn’t help us recall who the real other attendee was (sorry, Someone[s?]), but it addresses Jim’s numbers. (In actuality, who cares? I don’t take attendance anyway. The only evidence is in the picture.)

Ignore Jim (see Cerebrun). You know, ignore Adelaide, too (who’s trying to pretend she’s barely hanging onto my shoulder)
Jim giggled at my suggestion for x-ing him out and decided that it would be ironic if he died before the next run. It will make quite a set up for the Cerebrun if he does.
As far as “variations of Jason and Jim,” I use that designation because they track closely with their sense of humor so there’s a degree to which you can substitute one for the other (and when they’re both in attendance…). So, Jason’s Family, sorry to you, instead of Jim’s, if things went south in your household this past week.
