A Little Conditioning Can Be a Dangerous Thing (#201: 2023’04’12’W)

A possible upcoming marathon in point

[1½ MIN READ]

Broad Street (04’30’U) has been the motivation for getting various Growlers to push harder the last few weeks (Training). If there’s no race on a runner’s calendar, it is definitely hard to put out training effort. That was my problem until 03’31’F, a mere 12 days before this writing.

Oddly, even without a registered race, Shamrock (03’19’U) and Boston (04’17’M) Marathons have provided for me some motivation. That’s because GGR Aaron just did the former and runners from my Saturday club (SRC), have been doing their Boston training. That and doing a marathon every spring for the last 10 years have been generating in me resonant sympathetic vibes. A 14-mile weekly long run is now routine for me, but those vibes had me bopping up to 18 miles one-and-a-half months ago, then 20 and 21 earlier this month. Weird, I know.

Twelve days ago I found out about the Coastal DE Running Festival Marathon, 04’16’U. With me already doing appropriate distance work, I was in spitting distance of running it with minimal extra effort. Then I found out registration is still open. Then I found an SRC friend with a place down there and space to accommodate me. So I did a 24-mile long run on 01’S. I’m still working on transportation details, but now I might be doing my 11th consecutive spring marathon: 16 days of formal preparation. Weird, I know.
