It wasn’t a Marvel, DC, Twilight, or Knives Out franchise. Instead, it was last year’s Arcadia Christian Fellowship term (iCandybyWangC.com and elsewhere unless otherwise specified). The prequel took the form of the summer bible study on how to read the bible.
This wasn’t the kind of activity we ministerial leaders (Ben, Meesh, Nancy, and me) had ever launched before, but the reception was good enough to attempt a remake for summer 2026 . What made the 2025 effort valuable was the ability of 3 high school seniors to get to know the club before they ever matriculated.

Arcadia University hosts a few events every year to help prospective students decide if it is for them (Arcadia.edu). ACF participates in them because many students really want Christian community where and when they go through higher education. Getting to introduce ourselves there and then allowed 3 particular students (Ella, Julia, and Jerry) to join the club email list. That, in turn, got them connected to the summer bible study to preview ACF life at AU.
The 2026 bible study is set to feature the book of Isaiah and begin the first week of June. Given that classes ended 05’05’T (Tuesday, 5/5, in my peculiar style), that’s pretty late, but it’s a way to accommodate high-school seniors and college students who really need a chance to decompress after a busy year.

What makes that timing peculiar, you ought to have realized, is that HS seniors haven’t even graduated yet. And so, Julia joined ACF before her senior final exams. She continues to admit that getting messages from one persistent individual (>ahem< me) was, uh, memorable, but it did get her involved. And involved she’s remained.
So, here we are again. And we are confident that God the Sovereign will manifest himself again through the interest of this year’s incoming AU class members.
The box office waits with great anticipation.
