Here are 3 cool happenings to celebrate, 2 crew-centric and 1 crew adjacent.
Jay-var (the Jason variant of variations of Jason and Jim) did a run the day before his birthday this past weekend to celebrate the 10th anniversary of running in his life (iCandybyWangC.com and elsewhere unless specified)! Coincidentally, 05’04’ is the 4th anniversary of his first run with GGR (‘first run’ [Facebook].
Ironette (the steely variant of Lynette and herself) did her own kind of move … toward marriage … by getting engaged! A few of us met her guy Jahn (‘Yahn’) when he came up from Florida to support her November (and first) marathon in Philadelphia. We’ll get to celebrate with Lynette and Jahn when she comes back up from Florida to run her second marathon … in Philadelphia. Redemption is in the wind!
Finally, the traveling team at Black Men Run Philadelphia tonight puts my mind to another celebration coming up. That team has been to the Juneteenth 5K/10K for the last 3 years. How about we make it the biggest team ever going down for 2026? What else are you doing on that federal holiday to celebrate? Details to come.
