Aside from the nachos that I mentioned last week, folks often get an entrée or we share appetizers when we go to Human Robot for “overrun.” I manage to generate just a little bit of drama with those comestibles, too.
Cantina la Martina’s Tex-Mex eggrolls come with cheese sauce. The fundido comes with melted cheese. When we started getting them and I noticed people leaving behind both sauce and cheese, I thought the same thing I thought with the nacho orts: That’s food there. So, I eat it. Cue the looks of bemusement. Last week, I did successfully agitate for everyone to take a quarter of the cheese in the fundido dish. It may be extra cheesy, but it’s the right amount for the 4 tortillas that come with it. I still scraped the cast iron dish of the lingering, cooling cheese debris. We don’t get the same praise for clearing these dishes off, but it still makes me happy.

We tried the Señor Machete fajita for the first time and approved of it for future visits. The barbacoa is especially amazing with all its well-seasoned umamity [sic]. We walked out fat and happy. I left the salsa remains without guilt. We all have double standards.
