• S5K and BSR as GGR faves •

Two annual events get a lot of attention from GGR crew members: Broad Street 10Mi Run (BSR) and Jenkintown Sunset 5K Run (S5K). The reason is because they both feature distances that accommodate the majority of us runners.
Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run (05’04’U, 7:00 a.m.) is considered the country’s largest 10 miler. Ten miles is a big deal for many runners, including many Growlers, so it’s a great challenge training for it. The big draw of BSR is the name recognition, the other runners, and adoring spectators. Because it’s so big, though, a lottery is compulsory: entrance isn’t guaranteed. If you’re interested in the race, you can register here: BSR. Registration opened on 02’01’S and will end 02’15’S at which time anyone who makes it past the lottery will be official entrants. Registration doesn’t get charged until that happens, so no loss there. There’s no official Growlers team for BSR.
Jenkintown Sunset 5K (06’03’T, 7:00 p.m.) is particularly apt because we run the route virtually every week. The big draw of the official run is the involvement of festivities…also the other runners (numerous often familiar) and adoring spectators. The big draw of the weekly run is…us.
