This little running club has been going places. When I first started running with it in 2012, we ran a different route. Now the Jenkintown Sunset 5K route has been a standard along with a couple of other routes for variety. Back then we ordered in occasionally for pizza to have with our weekly beer. Now we have the tradition of WWW that’s benefited from Human Robot, a mere 2 short blocks away with its fine drink selection and Hermans at the Haus’s wursts and schnitzel, etc.
In December and with Jason’s prompting we took the show on the road by adding Bill’s Best Brewery to the mix. Sure, the effort looks a little different with Bill’s in the mix, but change is good right? Instead of starting the run at Jenkintown Running Company, we start and finish at Bill’s with a mid-run touchdown at JRC. Bill’s also has great drink offerings and a rotating cast of food purveyors.
As the group has changed, so have the practices. With Jackie’s prompting we have plans to include Grandma Jennah’s Ice Cream Parlor in the mix. They don’t offer drinks, but we can test out the borough’s open container ordinance by bringing our own! Beer floats, anyone? Maybe we won’t go quite there. That kind of change cannot be good.
