A Balanced Perspective on Last Week’s Effort (#225: 2023’10’04’W)

Appreciating the good in tandem with the bad

[1 MIN READ]

Last week’s run reminder implied that GGR absolutely had to run the Sunset 5K route so that Free-Burma Pete could complete his 200th circuit of 2023. Well, we did and so did he with 7 runners from his regular Pennypack Trail Runners club. It made for the record-breaking-attendance run of my 12-year tenure as a group member.

Celebrating the accomplishment of Free-Burma Pete. Glad you could make it Adelavid and T’Adam…

The gathering was a hit, but the celebration was less so. Some forgotten contributor had brought a brew some weeks (months?) before and left it at the store undrunk. Jason absolutely had to crack it open as it hit its best-consumed-by date. Not everyone was convinced that what made the experience so memorable was the advent of that date as much as the dubiousness of the frosted-sugar-cookie-based recipe. We were all convinced that the taste of it was a deal-breaker, though.

4 beer drinkers with looks of disgust on their faces over the taste of a brew that 3 of them are holding.

Unparalleled

Thankfully, the evening wasn’t a total loss. Thanks, Pete, for redeeming Jason.
