• And the conundrum •
[1½ MIN READ]
After last week’s Cerebrun, the question to Stacey was, “Did you read it?” Given that it was about her in name and subject matter suggests that the answer had to be a yes. The prompt was that Stacey admitted never clicking on the “Read more” link to read more than the teaser text in this feature of any given weekly run message. There’s a principle there, so I render no blame: a body can get a lot of emails any given day with a lot of text and one has to draw the line somewhere. Still, with a challenge like that, I felt compelled to respond. My solution was to make her the focus of the feature. Surely that would compel her to read more. Now, a runner of principle would stick to their guns.
What a disappointment. She caved: “Yes, I read it.” Me: “You did?!” She: “It had my name in it.” Me: “So all I have to do to get you to read it is to write about you every week?” I will admit to being a little disappointed that she bailed on her principles so easily, but it’s nice to know that she’s as egocentric as the next person.
Hey, Stacey? You were the prompt for the Cerebrun, but you must certainly have realized that you were also the prompt for the attendance picture, right? How much time did we waste on posing and how much more quickly did we get to running, just the way you like?
As far as making you the subject of every Cerebrun? I’m gonna do it! For these 2 weeks. I’m done. But getting the attendance photo done expeditiously? That could last a little longer.
