• Why would I do that? •
[1 MIN READ]
The teens in the SUV clearly found it amusing if not also amazing, but the girl on the bicycle found it baffling as she stated to her father walking behind her: “Dad, there’s a guy running with sticks.” He turned to look and paused before saying, “Oh, hi, Calvin.”
Why does it seem to not really surprise anyone that I’m the guy doing the strange thing? How about this question: When a gift presents itself, who would look the horse in the mouth? I suppose another runner passing by an expression of generosity would have gone home and driven back to complete the collection, but what a waste of time and fuel, even if the distance was a mere 3 miles. No, it made much more sense to take the pussy willow branches immediately that someone clearly intended to share as they lined the curb leaning up against their hedges. Yes, they were a little unwieldy, but the 2 pounds of weight work was worthwhile. So was the public entertainment value. And the chance to chat with GGR Andy (who’s otherwise found it difficult to join the crew lately [Picture in Cerebrun from 2023’01’25’W]).
Wife loved them. She was not really surprised that I brought them home the way I did.
