For the first time in my 12-year tenure with the Growlers, we have had enough runners to support a vendor visit. JRC Keith made the suggestion and local Asics rep Ken made the event. One great benefit a vendor visit provides is the opportunity to try out running shoes. So that’s what we did. I liked Glide Rides for the roomy comfort. They would be a good substitute for the Sauconys I currently wear.

The idea for the attendance photo was “Chinese wedding photo” from the era when, according to Jason, it was easier to hold a stone face for the full film exposure time than a smile.

It’s always a pleasure to welcome runners from the other local clubs, including Pat from Elkins Park Beer Runners and Maria from Pennypack Trail Runners. Maria’s been coming regularly enough just to be a Growlers…regular. And we have open arms for newbies—Steve, in particular, this past week—whom we all welcome to become noob regulars.
As for the success of the event; according to JRC Keith from other events he’s been a part of, it’s difficult usually to get more than a handful of runners to trial a vendor’s shoes. So, he was mighty pleased to have us ALL try on a pair. There you go: The Growlers are an agreeable lot, Mob Corner notwithstanding.
