[<1½ MIN READ]
Everyone who’s been working on fall race training has had to start actually delivering. This past Saturday (11’09), that meant 3 rudder bunnies doing the Rocky Run 5K and 10MI and 2 doing the Boston Half Marathon.
The Rocky Runners were Grace (35:12) and Kevin (39:03) doing the 5K. Another buddy was JRC Nicole, the store manager who did the Italian Stallion featuring Both the 5K (26:11) and the 10MI (1:33:11) in immediate succession for a total half marathon. Being the social runner that I’ve become, I got up early and showed some love by cheering them on. For Grace and Kevin, that cheering came at the start when I just barged into their starting corral and gave them a pep talk. For Nicole, that was after the 5K and before the 10MI when she was psyching herself up.
The Boston Half Marathoners were Li and Yuki doing their inaugural races (of any distance!) after starting to run in May! I couldn’t run with them in Boston, but, having run with both numerous times at GGR and then for one long run at SRC, I was with them in spirit; more spirit than I even realized. They texted me after the race and said they both imagined yours truly running along with them, particularly as the going got tough about halfway through. I know for a matter of fact that it was a positive imagining.
There are more races to come with Sylvia doing Philadelphia Marathon (11’23’U [Sunday]) and Li and Yuki doing Honolulu Marathon (12’08’U). I’m working on how to get body and spirit to both of those events, too.
