The personalities of one SRC-er

[1½ MIN READ]

Among SRC members, OKhen occupies a unique niche in my consciousness. One is by association because he and Mango Marjo go together and that’s how I first met them a few years ago. It’s hard not to think it cool that they are both running partners and life partners.

Another degree of appeal is that he is a guest contributor to this ruminatory feature with KayCee. (You really want to listen to me all the time?) He just wrote last month about running in their new home of Puerto Rico. A third is the eye-catching trail name which raises so many questions: “Is that right?” “How do you pronounce it?” “What does it mean?”.

Not so very long ago I got to learn all the answers through this very space when I also got to learn about his wacky creativity. It was then that OKhen released a tri-trilogy Rumination series in the best tradition of Star Wars, beginning with a story in 3 parts (IV-VI) that he prompted ChatGPT to write about Shawmont Hill.

“Same Same, But Different” Parts I-III and VII-IX were the saga of his name. That 6-part bi-trilogy was delightfully revealing of the wackiness of two people, actually: him and our club forebearer Zen Yanni. Due to release complications, only the Shawmont trilogy appeared as designed.

The entire 9-part series is now available on the SRC website (direct to streaming, as it were) as conceived and produced: https://shawmontrunningclub.com/same. If you haven’t looked at the site lately (or ever), now might be a good time. The Zenster figures prominently, but other members are gaining visibility; including OKhen, now.
