The Story Behind the Shot (#249: 2024’03’20’W)

For the sake of the photographic record

[<1 MIN READ]

Hoist with his own petard.” One of those old, rarely-used-and-even-less-well-known figures of speech that describes a late-2nd-millennium soldier getting hoisted when his incendiary device ignites prematurely. It also described last week’s attendance picture that was prompted when the springy pre-spring day got me thinking that we Growlers should also be springing for archival purposes.

Sometime between me explaining what everyone was to do and me taking the picture the fuse and the combustible substance that would do the hoisting went awry. Not a single Growler was airborne and most hadn’t even reached the point of imminent hoisting. A photographer can be too clever for their own good.

Runners about to jump.

“Okay, you do a pre-spring spring on the 4th beat after I count 3.” “When?”
(#249)

A second chance when we met A.A.Ron outside provided another opportunity to show altitude in action that a passing car on OYR (AKA Old York Road) also foiled. Sure we could have redone both efforts; but for sheer comic effect, my photographic adage rarely fails: “One and done.” Another attendance photo enters the outtake archives.
