My-Oh Maya and I[ya] were running together when she commented about wanting for the club to bring people back. For a lot of businesses and industry sectors, the pandemic made people rethink their work who never returned. Shawmont Running Club had its version of that when members started running differently, too. I haven’t heard people say they gave it up, but they did start running solo and in smaller groups away from Forbidden Drive and the 7:30a Saturday usual.
Crazily, the next week’s outing actually saw a boatload of them return. I can actually claim no responsibility because I did nothing special to facilitate that phenomenon. But I was not complaining. Hey, everyone; Keep coming!
Let there be no crickets but only the sound of more padding feet as we launch into 2024.
