Celebrating a Special Date (#221: 2023’09’06’W)

An occasion and a person

[1½ MIN READ]

Last week, I skipped the regular Growlers Group Run to celebrate my and my wife’s wedding anniversary: #37. It’s not a nice round number, but it’s really big and it amazes me when I mention it to people like I did when I stopped by the store before our dinner reservation so I could take the group photo.

We went to the new Via 419 on Old York Road in Jenkintown and enjoyed a delightful dinner with excellently prepared and presented food in a pleasant space with fine service. The ambience was everything 2 people in love could want, especially with the picture-window view looking out. Except for the marring by the runners parading across that view. And I do mean parading. Twice. What? A woman at the next table wondered if it was the running group from the Jenkintown running store. Wonder no more. It was. Didn’t that just ruin the evening. Lesson learned. Actually lessons, plural, learned.

First, don’t even bother stopping by the running store to take the group picture. Second, don’t go to a place so close to said store; like, directly across the street. Third, don’t tell said group where said place is. And finally, don’t get so close to the members of the group, reveal so good-natured a disposition, and let them meet and learn the same good-natured disposition in Wife that they think they can get away with the social transgression.

Mistakes may have been made; but not with the date.
