An Introduction to Cerebruns (#251: 2024’04’03’W)

About this feature

[1 MIN READ]

These here little thought pieces—Cerebruns, I call them—are a feature of the weekly run message I send out before each Wednesday night of Jenkintown Running Company’s Growlers Group Run. The weekly message itself comprises 4 parts: a reminder of the upcoming run, a report of the previous week’s GGR effort, an attendance picture, and a Cerebrun.

The name Cerebrun is my nerdy neologism. Anyone who has gotten to know me knows how ridiculously right the term is for the piece: a little bit of running, an iota of literary liberality, a smattering of self-deprecation, and a lot of intellectual over-analysis. While I can’t take credit for the reminder message idea or the report of the previous week’s run…or even the attendance picture and thought-piece concepts…I do claim dibs on the name. (Okay, I also own the Microsoft Paint treatment of so many of the attendance pictures when people aren’t in the right place at the right time.)

Here, Maria, hold my hat while I take the attendance picture, would you?

The weekly messages live on email and Facebook. The Cerebruns live alone on my website (iCandybyWangC.com > Flavors > Running > Cerebruns by CtCloser) with other “sprint” and “long-distance” writing pieces; many about running, but all about over-analyzing.
