(At the start of a January SRC run)
- #1: Are you running with your hands in your pockets? Take your hands out of your pockets.
- #2: I forgot my gloves.
- #1: You know what can happen.
- #2: Yeah, you can hurt yourself falling. But then you don’t really want to put your hands out anyways. Consider my sister-in-law who broke both hands trying to break her fall. You have to learn to roll—so that the force of impact gets distributed over a larger area. Hitting the ground with your upper arms and shoulder will protect your hands and forearms.
- #1: That’s a lot of thinking for something that’s pretty reflex.
- #2: Fine, I’m take my hands out of my pockets.
