One of my reasons for writing on the open web is to make the writing about what I’m doing findable. There’s risk, of course. If an investigative sort wants to find anything defamatory, they’ll twist and contort anything they find to undermine my future political and prominent social aspirations. I have none, but I think you know what I mean in the internet and social media age.
The reward is that iCandybyWangC.com is searchable and subscribable, so people can search and subscribe. To the degree that anything I have to say is noteworthy (there are, I’m happy to say, those who think it is), that’s good. Till now, that’s been a little on the information-seeking side (as an academic librarian and after), some on the faith and life side, and a lot on the running side (as an long-distance runner from mid-life)
Most recently the writing has begun including aspects of my newest pursuit: campus ministry leadership. As I’ve gotten better (or worse?) at developing content, I began compartmentalizing it into and linking it in “bite-sized” pieces. (See as an example: The Direct Route.) This allow visitors to explore what is of interest to them at their own leisure.
I do it all because it suits the way I accumulate information; not always linearly, but as needed (and based on curiosity and time availability). And if it suits me. Well then it has to suit all this website’s visitors, right?
