The Traditional Route

My non-traditional inaugural ministry letter

Calvin's official CCO portrait

It’s traditional to send a donor recruitment letter at the start of new ministry work like mine with the Coalition for Christian Outreach @ Arcadia University (CCOJubilee.org; Arcadia.edu). I’m not a particularly traditional kind of guy. (So explore the endless details at your leisure by clicking on all the links on my website iCandybyWangC.com.)

Go toThe Direct Route (becoming an organizational partner and donor through Calvin Wang @ CCO [iCandybyWangC.com and throughout unless otherwise noted])

For one thing, God has lined up my life to engage at a non-customary time. Whereas many campus ministers begin early in their careers (at least the ones I’ve known), I’m past that stage (“Careering“).

Thankfully, He has guided CCO and me to determine that this ministry and God’s gifting in me are the match that He needs. Here is a Letter of Introduction and endorsement they’ve provided for me.

The mentoring and ministry leadership work I’m now doing began in mid-2025 When I Became a CCO Volunteer. I work in parallel with several Other Ministry Leaders: Ben, Meesh, and Nancy.

You, as a recipient of this “letter,” are someone I consider part of my Emotional, Social, and Spiritual Network. Some of you know when I left my faculty role at Arcadia University in 2022 (“Changes“). You’ve offered the encouragement and prayerfulness that is SOP for all of us as ESS supporters of each other. Consider this the equivalent of the kind of year-end letter I’ve never sent, one that shares about the new career that I’ve begun reporting face to face.

It is customary to share prayer requests. That I can do in my customary way, by first sharing thanksgivings and praises.

Thanks and praise belong to God for:

Supplications:

  • The humility to get out of the way of God’s intentions through me;
  • The Holy Spirit’s effectiveness amid Arcadia University’s students:
  • Tenderness to God’s work inside individual administration, faculty, and staff members.

Finally, because it’s customary, I share how you can learn about becoming an organizational partner and donor through Calvin Wang @ CCO: A Financial Perspective.

I love you all. That’s the Emotional, Social, and Spiritual.

This is the Personal.
