Last week the girls ran GGR, outnumbering the boys 5:4. JRC Keith remembers the days when the group was virtually exclusively male (2022’09’21’W). Thanks to regulars like Adelaide, Candasay (AKA Candace), and Grace and others going back over the last or so year (like Ali, Amy, Brigid, Cait, Ebony, Kai, Leah, Maria, Megan, Smileen, Stacey, Tania, and Tara) the Growlers have become significantly less homogenous. And that’s just based on gender.
Over the last 2 years the phenomenon of the gals outnumbering the guys led me to feature the fact in a few posts: 2021’12’22’W, 2022’01’26’W (3:2!), 2022’02’23’W). Sure, it’s been over a year since we’ve had the same kind of dominance, but it’s not like the gals have disappeared from the group by any stretch. Change has been in the wind for the group for a while.
Maybe you care about diversity and maybe you don’t. The important reality is that runners can bring all of themselves and expect to enjoy a pretty cool running community at Jenkintown Running Company.
