It’s easy to forget something during race prep. We’ve all done it. One year while driving to the Frostbite 5 Miler I realized I’d forgotten my bib. Thankfully, Wife was able and willing to drive it over in time for me to clock an official race. It’s gotten way worse.
I pulled up into the Blue Bell Country Club parking lot with Pam for Zen Yanni’s Memorial Celebration on 06’04’Sun. We offered each other condolence hugs as we walked to the Blue Bell Country Club clubhouse together.
On the way out, afterward, as I traversed the parking lot to leave, I thought, ‘Huh, someone’s car is running.’ Then I realized, ‘Oh, dang. That’s me.’ Two hours later.
We all have techniques for helping us overcome forgetfulness or even distractedness. This one has me stumped: A checklist for getting out of the car? Really? The positivist in me is thankful that the car was still there (with gas). Northwestern Avenue during an SRC run? Uhh, nope.
